Starting with Why...

What is your motivation in life? What gets you out of bed each morning? What makes you feel alive? What makes your heart beat a little faster? What makes you get butterflies in your stomach? What terrifies you, yet makes you feel alive inside?

The simple answer to these questions is our motivation, and that is "WHY" I am writing this post. I want to explain the answer to that inquiry that a lot of my friends and family, and even strangers have asked me about my decision to bike across America.

WHY am I doing the ride? I have been biking since I was 13 years old and I always wanted to ride my bike across the country. It was one of those things that I always dreamed about, but didn't know how or when I could ever do it. I always felt in my heart that I needed a reason as to why I would ride. Why would I subject myself to 90+ days away from home riding a bike full of gear without a convincing reason behind the trip?

See I needed a cause that was bigger than just a joy ride across the country. After a few months of grieving my Mom, Jenny Carr's death which was on February 25th, I kept coming back to my childhood dream of riding my bike across the country. On Memorial day weekend, the idea took flight during a conversation with my dad, Terry. The goal of my journey is simple I want to inspire others who are currently fighting this awful form of brain cancer, raise awareness for glioblastoma multiforme and help raise funds for research that will one day help find a cure to GBM.
